A group of eight cottages on the edge of the village of Cottered, Hertfordshire, are arranged around two informal courtyards.

The houses are intended for 'empty nesters'. Large basement spaces provide storage space for accumulated belongings and, whilst having an upper floor within the roof space, the units are planned so that living can take place on the ground floor when the stairs become too much. Light chimneys provide daylight to internal bathroom spaces.
