The practice of Brady Mallalieu
Architects llp was formed in 1987 by Angela Brady and Robin Mallalieu
who have worked on a wide and varied range of buildings. The practice
office is in London
We practice Architecture
with enthusiasm and bring commitment to quality to all aspects of
the building process. The partners are able to give each project
individual detailed attention and are deeply involved with all stages
of a commission.
Brady Mallalieu have won
five RIAI Design Awards for the following projects: In 1992 for
a house renovation in Islington; 1995 for an office fit out in Hackney;
1997 for the new school of architecture London Metropolitan University;1998
for a new build house in Knightsbridge.Their work appears regularly
in the architectural and national press and in exhibitions in the
UK and Europe.
In 1998 BMA were selected
by the Architecture Foundation for inclusion in their directory
'New Architects: A Guide to Britain's Best Young Architects'. Angela
Brady and Robin Mallalieu have written the guidebook "Dublin:
a Guide to Contemporary Architecture" which was published in
November 1997 by Ellipsis / Konemann Press.

Before commencing in private
practice Angela Brady gained wide experience working in Toronto,
Dublin and Copenhagen and has been in London since 1983. She has
developed a particular interest in public and community buildings
and educational and housing projects, including promoting sustainable
and ecofriendly design.
She has worked on many award
winning projects and works on architectural education projects with
MOMA, Crafts Council, CABE, RIBA, DCMS and the Building Exploratory
Hackney, in promoting architecture and contemporary design to schools
and to the public. She is on the National panel of Civic Trust and
the CABE English Heritage Urban Panel. Angela has recently completed
a 6 part TV show "Building the Dream" for ITV1 where a
contemporary family home was designed and constructed in 14 weeks.
In March 1993 Angela Brady
received an Irish Post/ AIB Bank Award for personal achievement
presented by the Irish President Mary Robinson. She was made an
honourary Fellow of the RIAI in 1999, FRSA in 2004.
Angela was for 6 years an
elected member of the RIAI Architects Council and is chairperson
and founding member of RIAI London Forum. She has appeared both
in the national and professional press and on television and radio
on a regular basis. She filmed a tour of Dublin's new architecture
for the RTE arts TV programme and appeared as an architectural advisor
on Channel 5's TV series 'Hot Property' and BBC3's Radio Architecture
debate.
Angela is past chairperson
of Women In Architecture (2006 - 2006), and currently on the
Women In Architecture committee, the RIBA Equality Forum, and
has formed links with other European women architects groups.
It has exhibited in 18 cities and will complete the tour in Dec
2006 in Cardiff at the new Welsh Assembly Building co-ordinated
by Angela Brady.
Robin Mallalieu Architect
BA (Hons) Arch. B. Arch (Manc.) RIBA. ARB.
Robin Mallalieu has gained
wide experience in London since 1983. Prior to commencing practice
with Angela in 1987 he worked in London for van Heyningen and Haward
and Brian Taggart Associates.
He has worked on a variety
of projects including award winning buildings and has developed
a particular interest in historic buildings and has developed an
expertise in the design of new contemporary buildings within historical
and protected environments. He also maintains an interest and expertise
in urban design and master planning.
Robin is skilled in creating
environmentally friendly and sustainable designs and promotes
low
energy / low maintenance buildings. His contemporary house design
in Richmond was featured on BBC1 where it was praised by presenter
Max Hutchinson as one of the best contemporary houses in Britain
today, it was runner up for the Manser Prize.
